Jul 27, 2017 Bridge the Gap Between Your Risk & Network Teams to Reduce Risk
Recent cyberattacks such as Wannacry and Petya magnify the need to make risk and vulnerability management a top priority for organizations.  Combine that with a network security posture that is too open from years of access changes and little policy cleanup, organizations are more at risk now than at any time in history.

FireMon Achieves 5-Star Rating in SC Magazine Review of Policy and Risk Management Solutions

Security Manager, Policy Planner and Risk Analyzer Lauded as “the Ultimate Policy and Risk Management Tool” OVERLAND PARK, KS — Jun. 7, 2012 FireMon, the leading provider of security management and risk analysis solutions, today announced that its Security Manager, Policy Planner and Risk Analyzer solutions received 5 stars in SC Magazine’s 2012 Risk & Policy Management Group Test. In the review, Dr. Peter Stephenson, technology editor for SC Magazine, celebrated the FireMon product suite as a “powerful and robust tool that offers a lot of risk and policy management functions.” According to Stephenson, “This product attacks risk on two fronts. First, the risk analysis engine determines possible attack paths into the network, as well as uses penetration test results to provide a full-scale score based on risk level.” He added that Security Manager’s integrated Policy Planner also “offers a full, change management workflow that enables administrators to simulate proposed access changes to measure possible risk before the changes are implemented and rolled out.” Stephenson noted that in “using Security Manager, administrators can run assessments of device configurations against industry best practices and compliance standards, and then the product will offer recommendations for policy cleanup and other options.” Additionally, he cited that FireMon users “can run instant reports based on regulatory and compliance standards providing deep insight to ensure regulations are met and compliance is maintained.” Overall, Stephenson recognized Security Manager for having “lots of power” and for being “full-featured.” “Earning the 5-star designation from SC Magazine validates FireMon’s continued commitment to delivering advanced security management solutions that help simplify increasing network complexity, and combat the ever-changing threat landscape,” said Jody Brazil, President and CTO of FireMon. “And we’re not resting on our laurels, as we recently announced Security Manager V6.0. Enterprises can now – for the first time – automate the management of security policy, identify critical assets at greatest risk and visually map the vulnerable paths through the network. This delivers an unprecedented ability to prioritize protection and remediation efforts.”

The Return on Security of FireMon’s Security Manager

Large Healthcare Provider
The customer sought a data analysis tool to correlate application data with network and security data to spot service-impacting anomalies. They did not have an accurate picture of interoperability between applications and the underlying infrastructure.
Major Airline
Following a merger with another airline, this customer was left managing a large number of firewalls and routers from different security vendors using a home-grown application.
National Insurance Provider
This national insurance provider had three problems to tackle regarding their firewall policies. First, the number of rules under management was overwhelming staff and processes. They needed to increase visibility and effectiveness of their firewall change request/workflow ticketing process. And they also need help maintaining compliance PCI DSS requirements.
Managed Service Provider
Each time this Global MSP engaged a new customer, they had to onboard the firewalls – sometimes hundreds per engagement – into their network. Part of the onboarding process required assessing the policies against internal best practices – a manual, line-by-line process that took an average of 16 hours/firewall and was extremely error-prone.
