On Your Mark, Get Set, Go: FireMon to Make its Mark at VMworld

Carmen Harris

“Make Your Mark” is the theme of this year’s VMworld in San Francisco beginning August 25. VMworld’s expectation is to “shake things up, defy the expected and blaze the way ahead.”

Well, what exactly does that mean for such an innovative, fast-moving industry? The current perception of technology is varied – movies like the Marvel Cinematic Universe productions set expectations on how far technology could go, while shows like “Black Mirror” portray how it can go too far.  Have you seen “Black Panther,” “Iron Man” or the latest “Spider-Man” movie? While interesting, the latter raises a security question about deleting a picture in a phone from another device – but we won’t post any spoilers here. Then there’s Black Mirror showcasing the consequences of technology, shining a light on issues of security, privacy and lack of visibility.

While VMworld is asking you to make your mark, it seems like the spotlight is on the security industry more than ever with major data breaches and enormous fines making headlines. With that in mind, what can we look forward to at VMworld?

You Can Have It All

Attempting to keep security policies up-to-date and effectively enforced is a massive challenge. Policy enforcement was a lot easier when it was confined to a handful of devices and rules at the network perimeter. But, today, enterprises are leveraging next-gen technologies to make programs and initiatives more effective and efficient, and while these technologies bring tremendous value, they also obliterated conventional notions of the perimeter, and created a massively diverse, distributed and constantly changing IT environment. This has introduced enormous complexity and is probably one of the reasons you’ll be attending VMworld next week.

At FireMon we get it.

FireMon will be making its mark at VMworld from booth #226. Stop by as we talk about how to make sure security is keeping pace with the speed of business. The FireMon approach is built on delivering persistent network policy enforcement across dynamic, virtual and multi-platform environments. Our experts will be on-hand so stop by our booth and let us help you navigate!

We have a thing for getting things done, right and fast. So, we also set up the FireMon Speed + Security Cyber Café in the South Concourse. Stop by to charge your devices and grab a snack to keep you fueled for all the learning and networking the week has in store. Need a fun break? Go head-to-head in Mario Kart Races while you’re there and we’ll see you at the finish line.

If you saw FireMon at any of the other technology conferences this summer, you’ll recall that we’ve been giving back to our chosen charity. We’ll continue that effort at VMworld in support of Noah’s Bandage Project. We will donate $2 for every badge that is scanned to Noah’s Bandage Project.

What else are you looking forward to at VMworld? Check out VMworld Fest with OneRepublic as the headliner.  Not your average digital infrastructure block party, is it? As OneRepublic has said, “This could really be a good life.” Just be sure to make the FireMon booth, #226 in the South Hall, a stop along your way.
